The Rent it Right Leasing scheme enables local landlords and Portsmouth City Council to work together to provide affordable homes in Portsmouth for local people in housing need.

In a time of changing legislation the Rent it Right Leasing Scheme provides private owners with peace of mind and a stress-free experience. Our dedicated and experienced team of officers will take on responsibility for managing the tenancy whilst you relax with the assurance of a guaranteed income.

Furthermore, there are no hidden charges and no management fees for the service we provide.

When you let us manage your property we commit to:

  • No sign up fees, legal costs or management fees
  • Guaranteed rental income, paid quarterly in advance
  • No rent arrears
  • 3 to 5 year leases
  • Free inventory service
  • Out of hours emergency support
  • Professional management of the property and tenants
  • Regular property inspections
  • Return your property vacant and in the same condition (with the exception of fair wear and tear)


If you would like the Council to take responsibility for day-to-day repairs this can be arranged for a fee (deducted from your regular payments).

What properties are suitable for the scheme?

Our greatest demand is for two bedroom properties, however, we will consider any size property in the Portsmouth area. The properties must be self-contained and unfurnished.
